Business Intelligence Council

The Business Intelligence Council (BIC) is a University-wide group of administrators who have made significant commitments to driving the success of BI on campus. Its members have substantial backgrounds in the following areas: using multiple sources of central and local administrative information to support improved decision making; monitoring operational performance; and enhancing financial and operational controls in their units.

Newly formed, the BIC initially will focus on developing a tight network of people who are actively involved in BI at U-M. This network, called the Business Intelligence Community of Experts (BICE), will strengthen relationships between schools and colleges, MAIS and central offices.

After the BICE is in place, its participants will collaborate with the BIC to provide forums for BI users to share their expertise and experience with others. The BI Council also will help to enable BI users on campus by:

Recommendations made in the Advisors of Information Management Strategy (AIMS) Strategic Plan led to the establishment of the Council as part of an effort to foster a Business Intelligence Competency Community. The BIC represents users at every level which access all types of administrative information with a focus on providing management information to deans, directors and executive officers.
