Space is one of the most valuable (and costly) assets. The rising expense of facilities operations and maintenance, as well as fierce competition for research space, led the Medical School to examine space allocation using Business Intelligence. Their work resulted in an overall increase in space productivity, faster response time for space requests, and increased data integrity. From the Medical School's Office of Space Management, Julie Walsh and Sucheta Kulkarni discussed the work that won their team a 2009 BI Award. Their presentation highlighted:
