Business Intelligence often uses Key Performance Indicators, or KPIs, to assess current performance and to prescribe a course of action. KPIs measure business processes that directly impact an organization’s strategic objectives. For example: the number of admitted students who enroll in a program or school; or the number of donors in a fundraising initiative. Retention rate is another KPI.
