Internal Controls – Employment Reports


Description

This area provides at-a-glance and guided analysis of operational, strategic, financial, and compliance data for a unit(s). This information can help identify employment trends and exceptions, compare actuals to expectations, minimize risks, and enable data-driven decisions.

Release Highlights

This release:

  • Offers a new report, Pay History Analysis, which supports employment internal controls and provides the ability to filter the data by various categories. In this report you can:
    • view a five year earnings trend by department, earnings code or employee
    • use mutliple filter options to analyze earnings data such as defining a custom grouping of earnings codes or filtering additional criteria (FSLA category, job family, and others).
  • Offers a modified Temp Pay report that excludes employee benefits (similar to the Faculty and Staff Pay reports)
  • Provides one place for certification reports by incorporating the P-Card reports under the Internal Control heading in the left navigation panel. 

Future Plans

  • Future releases will enhance Cash/Credit Card Controls reporting and controls to provide at-a-glance and guided analysis functionality.
Project/Grant Financial Reports
  • Project/grant information by department as well as the ability to drill on cost type and account type sub-totals for the PBSR and PG Activity reports
  • Links to imaged journals and the ability to sort on key columns on the Project Grant Summary report
  • An alert for sponsored projects that end within 90 days

Project/Grant Financial Reports


Description

This area provides the ability to view the financial status of your project/grants online and includes sponsored research, UM-funded, gift, and other projects. It provides a summary of sponsored and non-sponsored project/grant data by Principal Investigator or by Project Administrator, as well as the ability to drill down to various levels of detail for the amounts shown.

Release Highlights

In this area:

  • These reports now provide project/grant information by department as well as the ability to drill on cost type and account type sub-totals for the PBSR and PG Activity reports.
  • Links to imaged journals are now available as well as the ability to sort on key columns on the Project Grant Summary report.
  • An alert is now available for sponsored projects that are ending within 90 days.

Source/Use Reports


Description

This area provides departments with the ability to compare incoming revenue (i.e. sources) to outgoing expenditures (i.e., uses) in order to identify trends and anomalies. Users can view balances at a glance by year-to-date totals and projections based on prior year data, as well as drill-to-detail for amounts shown.

Release Highlights

This area now offers:

  • Source/use at-a-glance drill to details reports,which provide the ability to view by fund, department, or program
  • Improved functionality for exporting data to Excel with browsers other than MS Internet Explorer.

  • Improved usability and additional users via auto-granted access to PeopleSoft roles

Enrollment Trend Reports


Description

This area provides the ability to review campus-wide enrollment information for course offerings to help with course demand planning. The data presented is based on the number of students enrolled in a class for a term(s), their academic level, and academic career.

Release Highlights

This area now:

  • Has improved usability, such as allowing the selection of multiple subjects and terms, simplified selection criteria, and updates to sort order.
  • Provides the ability to toggle between Total Enrollment view and Enrollment Variance view.

Delivered to

Access to this area was automatically granted to approximately 600 additional users who have PeopleSoft roles related to enrollment requests and class maintenance.

The Admissions Dashboard
  • Enhanced functionality for multiple test types and addtional drill-to-detail capabilities

Admissions Dashboard (Pilot)


Description

This area provides the ability to view current admissions status against previous years’ status as well as against user-defined targets. Users can also review student quality based on median test scores and GPA and drill to student details.

Release Highlights

This area now:

  • Can be utilized by multiple schools due to the addition of the GMAT as a supported test type. (The GRE and LSAT are still options).
  • Has drill-to-detail capability in addition to metrics for the previous year, additional feeder school analysis, and additional student details fields.

Future Plans

Future releases will include the addition of TOEFL scores as well as support for the Dental Admission Test (DAT) test type.

Delivered to

Access to this area will be granted to approximately 100 additional users over the next one to two months. With access, deans, associate deans, and department and admissions chairs in Rackham, Public Health, and the Business School can use this dashboard to monitor the upcoming admissions cycle.

  • More financial information added to existing reports

Dean's Data Reports (Pilot)


Description

This reporting tool provides dean, directors, and others with an overview of critical data for teaching, research, and resources (physical, financial, human). It provides this data overview in the form of comparative graphs that enable users to view key metrics for their school or college at a glance and compare their unit with others.

Release Highlights

This area now offers:

  • Indirect costs as a percentage of direct costs
  • Success rate for proposals and awards
  • Operating balance per FTE information

Delivered to

Access to this area has been granted to approximately 50 additional pilot users, members of the Budget Administration Group, so they may review and give feedback on the content.

Tuition Attribution Reports
  • Updated to incorporate user feedback relative to usability

Tuition Attribution Reports (Pilot)


Description

This area provides detailed attributed tuition and registration fee revenue by unit of registration and by unit of instruction. These reports are designed to support unit budget administrators with the annual General Fund budget cycle at U-M.

Release Highlights

This area now offers improved usability, including providing the ability to produce tuition attribution information at the University level and drill-to-detail information on the Actuals from Instruction amount.
